first of all, I am neither an developer, nor a tester of the IPCop distro. I am just a dumb interested user who would like to bring back some of the knowledge to the community I gained by using IPCop.

If you want to follow the situation more closely, I'd recommend to follow the developer mailing list. I don't follow it, but the admins of the forum will most likely welcome your contributions in the mailing list and inaugurate you there.

Personally I have made the experience in the past, that once a severe security issue was spotted, a hot fix was released within hours (not days or weeks). This is what actually counts for a firewall distro, and and not so much tons of shiny features which might impose unnecessary risks due to additional bugs
