Dell IPCop
- IPCop machine is a Dell I found on the
street that someone put out for trash.
- Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.6Ghz
- 1152MB (512MB + 512MB + 128MB) DDR 400 RAM
- Seagate 10Gb HD
- Green Blue Orange Red configuration but I only use Green, Blue and Red
4 Network cards installed. 3 of them are Intel Pro 100 S and 1 is on
board Intel Pro 100 VE. I use 4 network cards in the machine in case
one of them breaks I will just reassign it a new function without shutting
down the computer (I want to be #1 on the list one day).
- To make the IPCop machine work I had to buy a new OCZ Stealth X Stream 500W
power supply as it runs silent and I didn't trust the original Dell power
supply to last long. The rest of the parts I already had.
- Network setup: Right out of the cablemodem I have my Vonage VOIP router then
output of goes into IPCop because there is no way for me to setup QOS to have
the Vonage router on blue have network traffic priority above all other ports
in the IPCop. Out of IPCop I have my Netgear WGR614 wireless router.
- Keeping all of the above powered up I have a APC Back-UPS XS 1500VA battery
backup. On the picture It shows 1000 VA but I have an external battery added to
the back :-) I estimate the runtime to be about 1.5 hours as the power consumption
is 77 watts.
